Awareness is not a giver of solace. It is just the opposite. It is a disturber and an awakener. The able leaders I know are all awake and reasonably disturbed. They are not seekers after solace.

-Robert K. Greenleaf

Awareness is work, often times work we would rather not do because it means disrupting our peace and the scripts that have served us for years, sometimes decades. Awareness rouses us, it forces us to unveil and see and hear our interior and exterior worlds. Once we have awoken in various ways, our values shift and the work begins. And once we do that work, more awareness comes flooding in. If we’re doing it right, the cycle never ends. This is my work as a leader: to remain reasonably disturbed.

As a servant-leader, I see through the layers of a person and channel my energy into helping them to unlock their true potential. I believe through deep awareness of self, we can excavate and process buried elements of truth, bring about transformative change and enter a new phase of development.
