Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

- my thoughts, beliefs and values -

Diversity adds beauty to our world. Diversity of people, diversity of thought, and diversity of life should be celebrated, unapologetically.

Equity is not equality. What works for one, might not serve the other. We each have individual stories and backgrounds that lead to individual needs, all of which should be honored.

Inclusivity is the act of inviting others, particularly those who are different than you, into your space to express their authentic selves freely. Welcoming others and including them into spaces and conversations is how we will move the world forward.

I am fiercely for the people - all people - and accept others for who they are. I fight systemic and blatant oppression as an ally and an advocate for marginalized groups through my work. I walk this path accepting my privilege. I am humbly learning, and I do make mistakes, as I continue on my journey of integrating DEI into all that I do.

Our children are our legacy and will build upon the values my husband and I have instilled in them to live and love all people.

Gonzaga University

- land acknowledgement -

I am privileged to attend school at such a distinguished university. A part of my privilege is to recognize and appreciate the rich history of the land on which this university was built. We acknowledge Gonzaga University resides on the ancient lands of the Spokane Tribal People. Students who attend school at Gonzaga bear the responsibility of respecting the land and the people while participating in a shared and ongoing gratitude.
